Weekend events in Turku: how to choose accommodation

Weekend events in Turku: how to choose accommodation

Weekend events in Turku are worth checking before booking accommodation. When you know the event location and the time the evening ends, you can choose a home where getting around and returning fit your own pace.

A concert at Logomo, an evening by the river and a sports event in Kupittaa create very different weekends. A good location supports your particular plans. At the same time, check the sleeping arrangements, arrival details and the total cost of the accommodation.

Where can you find weekend events in Turku?

In the Visit Turku events calendar, you can select the At the weekend filter or your own dates. Then visit the organiser's website to check tickets, the address, times and any programme changes.

Before comparing accommodation, note down:

  • the exact location and entrance of the event
  • when the doors open, the start time and the estimated end time
  • any age limits and accessibility information
  • other places you want to visit during the same weekend.

The event name does not always tell you the entire route. A multi-location festival may take you to different parts of the city, and the same building may contain several halls. The organiser's website is the source for up-to-date programme information; an accommodation guide helps you make the practical choice.

Choose an area according to your weekend plans

Main focus of the programme What should you assess about the location?
City centre and the banks of the Aura River Walking routes to restaurants, cultural attractions and the last place of the evening
Logomo The route to the correct hall, arrival by train and the return journey after the event
Kupittaa The connection to the event location and any other plans in the city centre
Several locations Transfers throughout the weekend and the return journey from the latest evening

The city centre is a natural starting point if you will spend a lot of time by the river and at the services in the centre. Port Arthur and Kakolanmäki may be suitable if their location and walking routes support your plans. At Kakolanmäki, it is worth taking the hills into account.

If the event is in Kupittaa or elsewhere outside the city centre, check the journey to that location. Simply saying “near the city centre” does not tell you how easy the return journey will be in the evening.

The Turku area guide helps you compare neighbourhoods based on your own plans. Do not assume that an area is quiet, accessible or within a short walking distance based only on its name.

For Logomo: check the hall and arrival route

Logomo has several event spaces. Check your ticket or the programme to see which hall you are going to, and use its own map link in the Logomo arrival instructions. Different entrances may affect which direction you should come from.

If you are arriving by train, it is a good idea to plan your luggage and access to your accommodation in advance. According to Logomo's arrival instructions, there is no luggage storage there. Do not therefore plan your day on the assumption that you can leave your suitcase at the event venue.

If you are arriving by car, check parking separately. Logomo states that parking spaces in the area are limited and subject to a fee. Parking at your accommodation and parking at the event venue are two different things.

Plan the return journey as well

Use the Föli journey planner to check both the journey there and the return journey after the event's estimated end time. Check the walking route along actual streets and entrances. A straight-line distance on a map may not account for hills, the railway or a route that goes around obstacles.

Some event tickets include the right to use public transport. Confirm this on your own ticket or in the organiser's instructions; the benefit does not apply to all events. The same applies to possible changes to routes and evening services.

If you are travelling with children, a lot of luggage or needs that affect mobility, an easy route may be more important than the shortest possible journey. Also allow time for checking in and eating before the event.

What kind of accommodation works for an event weekend?

Start with the beds and the layout. An open-plan studio can work well for two guests. If some of the group go to bed earlier, a separate bedroom can make the shared evening easier.

Check the home's own details for:

  1. Sleeping: beds, separation of sleeping areas and blackout conditions.
  2. Arrival: access instructions and the agreed arrival time.
  3. Everyday amenities: kitchen, dining area and the equipment you specifically need.
  4. Getting around: the route to the event, parking and any stairs.
  5. Total cost: accommodation, additional charges and cancellation and amendment terms.

A kitchen can be useful even on a short visit: you can have breakfast at your own pace or prepare an evening snack after the event. However, a dining table visible in the photos does not automatically mean there is a separate workspace. Confirm the features that matter to your group.

Book a home for the entire weekend

First choose the most important events, check the routes and then compare accommodation using the same list. A home near one concert may be a good choice, but the programme for the entire weekend may favour another area.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I see what is happening in Turku at the weekend?

In the Visit Turku events calendar, you can select the weekend or your own dates. Then check the tickets, address, entrance and times on the organiser's own website.

Is it worth staying in the city centre for an event at Logomo?

The city centre may be suitable if the rest of your weekend programme is there. Still, compare the route from the accommodation to the correct entrance at Logomo and the return journey after the event. The shortest distance is not always the easiest route.

Can I leave my suitcase at Logomo?

According to Logomo's arrival instructions, there is no luggage storage there. Arrange what to do with your luggage and how to access your accommodation before the event.
